Talent Match is a lottery funded programme to deliver creative ways to help ‘hard to reach’ NEET young people aged 18-24 who have been out of work or training for over 12 months to become job ready, find work or start their own enterprises. A Sheffield City Regional Partnership has been established led by Sheffield Futures. The Partnership includes organisations from Barnsley (VAB), Bassetlaw, Bolsover, Chesterfield North East Derbyshire (Bolsover County Council with CVS Support), Doncaster (Doncaster Consortium), Rotherham (Independent Local Solutions) and Sheffield (Sheffield Cubed).
Talent Match Coaches The Talent Match Coaches are at the centre of this programme, similar to a key worker model providing hand holding support, action planning and engagement. There are 20 Talent Match Co-ordinators across the City Region, six of these are based in Sheffield and are employed by Really NEET College, Football Unities Racism Divides (FURD) and Woodthorpe Development Trust (WDT). Each provider has two full time equivalent Coaches focusing on particular hotspot areas across the city. Sheffield Cubed is responsible for managing Sheffield providers performance and co-ordinating Talent Match activity in Sheffield. The Coaches will have access to a menu of interventions to support young people’s progression. These will include a wage subsidy scheme, peer mentoring, enterprise creation support and a personal fund for beneficiaries needing to overcome specific and immediate barriers such as travel expenses which may be prohibiting them from progressing into employment.
