Bridget Strong
Chief Executive – Sheffield Mind.
Bridget has been involved with Sheffield Well-being Consortium from the very beginning when the idea of organisations coming together to enable them to more effectively bid for contracts was first mooted. “I believe fervently in this way forward for locally based providers to be able to survive and hopefully thrive in the increasingly challenging climate that we are experiencing.” Bridget has been at the forefront of getting Sheffield Well-being Consortium off the ground subsequently being elected as chair of the board of directors.
Her background is in mental health though her first jobs were working in nightshelters. Since then she qualified as a social worker and has worked for Community Action Halfway Home, Sheffield Women’s Counselling and Therapy Service and North Sheffield PCT. Two achievements I am most proud of are developing the Sheffield Mind and Body Project and the Sheffield Mental Health Guide”. Sheffield Mind works with many people who are facing greatest disadvantage and who have few choices in life.
Apart from her day job she is also an Iyengar yoga teacher, “Practicing and teaching yoga is a great antidote to my working life.
